YES! Congratulations, @Susan Frances!
Outside, I am cold and hard.
Inside, I burn with a heat that no water can quench.
For anyone wondering about this part, I specifically never used the words fire or flame. Acid burns too, and mixing it casually with water really isn't a smart move...
Wherever I am, I am powerful.
Also check, since batteries produce power! I was going to add another tongue-in-cheek clue along the lines of, "whenever you need me, I'm nowhere to be found" but turned out that wasn't necessary.
Over to you, @Susan Frances!

Good riddle Jude.
This might be a bit easy but here goes
I'm tall when I'm young
I'm short when I'm old
I'm quick when I'm thin
I'm slow when I'm fat
The wind is my enemy.
What am I?

What is grief, if not love persevering?

I am a symbol, but also a signal
You're safe if you see me, and in danger if you don't
I belong near the water, but can be found elsewhere
What am I?
What is grief, if not love persevering?
Grief is just love with no place to go.

I think you're right ☺Susan Frances wrote: ↑19 Sep 2021, 02:59 Hmm, my first thought is a lighthouse - usually on a cliff top - but they can be found a little inland.
