Icon She had to

Post by Janey 12345 »

On that day, she had to…

She didn’t lose him. She had to let him go. She didn’t get over him, she had to move on. She started to lose feelings for him and so she walked away. She didn’t want him sad so she pushed him away. The excruciating pain that she had to bear forced her to cut him off. She didn’t want things to end; she just did what’s best for her. She’s not selfish, she’s just unhappy. She didn’t wanna break up; she just can’t handle it anymore. Seeing him with somebody tore her heart. She had scars; she had marks, though hurt never lasts. She didn’t wanna leave his life but it came to a point that she had to put herself first for once. She needed time for herself.
Things weren’t the same anymore, and no matter how long she waited for things to get better, no matter how hard she tried to make things work, it just wasn’t happening. She had to close her eyes, get better, breathe in, get up, head held high and move on. She didn’t leave him for no reason, though her absence was required for his happiness. She had to live life and be on her own. She had to.

I want to know more...consider digging deeper - being less vague in your lines.
There is something here - but we are not able to see beyond the surface. Let us in.

Seems more like poetry about yourself. Self explanatory, direct and right character of true love for someone.

Great content but too much repetition of the persona she. This in my humble opinion distracts from the more important core of the story.

I feel like if you structured it more and slightly altered a few line this would be an incredible poem.. see below.

On that day, she had to…
She didn’t lose him. She had to let him go.
She didn’t get over him, she had to move on.
She started to lose feelings for him and so she had to walk away.
She didn’t want him sad so she had to
push him away.

She had scars;
she had marks

The hurt never lasts.

She didn’t wanna leave his life but she had to put herself first for once.
She needed time for herself.
Things weren’t the same anymore;
No matter how long she waited for things to get better,
No matter how hard she tried to make things work...it just wasn’t happening.

She had to close her eyes,
Get better, breathe in,
get up, head held high and move on.
She didn’t leave him for no reason,
She had to in order to save his happiness
She had to live life and be on her own.
She had to.
