Fog Faith | A poem by Eckhart Aurelius Hughes

Post by Scott »

I just wrote this today. Let me know what you think!

Fog Faith
Eckhart Aurelius Hughes

The moonlight pushes quietly through the night fog
I'm driving with the music low
Not flying, not slow
You whisper to me from the backseat
But I'm alone
And you've been gone for several years
Sometimes those closest to us
are the ones who've already left this Earth
It's not words you're speaking
I can barely understand
I ask you so many questions
Am I living right?
Have I grown?
Am I even the same person you used to know?
There's not many cars on this road
It'll be a while until I'm home
I can't see that far
But I have faith
I have faith

Taking it literally, the whisper from the backseat, but I'm alone gave me chills. I believe in the spiritual realm and I believe in messages coming to us in uncommon ways. We're all on a road towards the same destination and most of us question if we're on the right path. It's not for us to know when that road comes to a stop

"Am I living right?
Have I grown?"

I ask myself these questions, too.

This captures the haunting beauty of grief and the quiet courage to drive forward, unanswered.

"I can’t see that far, but I have faith." A raw, tender ode to love that outlives death.
We all need people who will give us feedback. That’s how we improve.

There's so much depth in this poem. Your heart reaching out, hoping, anticipating, yet uncertain...
