Don't Speak | A Poem by Eckhart Aurelius Hughes

Post by Scott »

Here is my latest poem. Let me know what you think!

Don't Speak

My words are powerful
So I rest my soul in its own silence
Restrain my body in its quiet

Eye to eye
In a moment's fleeting glance
We can speak for hours, without a single word
And share an eternal kiss, without even moving our lips

Some would say it's just a fantasy
But I've seen fantasies turn real with just a word
I've seen how reality can be like a fire
That spreads to things with just the faintest touch
And makes them part of itself

So don't say a word
And smile gently
Protect our love in the quiet world
Where eternity stays still and safe
Where all is cool and passion's burning
Where leashed flames can burn forever
Remember, there, our wordless conversation

Sometimes, silence is more profound than verbal expression. This is a beautifully crafted poem, Scott.

You know when someone understands you entirely when they don’t have to hear a word come out of your mouth. They only have to look at you, and they will know your thoughts.

There's a communication with one so dear to your heart that is beyond word. Soul to soul, heart to heart.
