If I knew you'd soon be gone
I'd thank you for your friendship every day
I'd ask for your mercy and try to right every wrong
I'd learn that judgement is not mine to pass, nor forgiveness mine to withhold.

But why wait till time turns to stone
And life simply fades away?
No.
Let us show our friendship for a man while he still breathes
Let us use the time we have now and not find ourselves on bended knee sending to Heaven years worth of pleas

Let us thank a man every day
And be to him a true friend
For no man knows the time, nor day,
That your life might come to an end.

Let us not trifle with sacred things
Time is much too precious to waste

That we are all surviving on borrowed breath
