A New Day
(Composed December 2009)
Sixth hour to time,
Helter skelter we run,
Preparations are made,
The time is ticking.
Men are slaughtering,
Children are running errands,
Women are cooking,
The time is ticking.
Third hour to time,
Congregations are gathered,
Family meetings are held,
Confessions are made,
A similar prayer on every man's lips,
"Open my eyes to a brand new day, Lord
And the sins of my old days be cleansed",
The time is ticking.
Five minutes to time,
Darkness befall all,
Candlelights save the day,
On their knees all fall,
A certain fever takes them all,
A fever, an uncertainty, an anxiety,
A longing for a future, for life,
The time is ticking.
Zero second to time,
The time has come!
Woe to he who ain't ready,
For time waits for no man.
Let he who is ready jubiliate,
Let he who is alive give thanks,
For many, so unlucky, did not see,
What a wonder! A new day is dawn!
