Behind Closed Doors

Post by Barbiedole »

BEHIND CLOSED DOORS
(Composed August 2009)

People called us compatible;
Men called us peaceful;
Women called us soul mates;
Children called us heavenly;
We walk in the park holding hands;
Our smiles as wide as the evil forest;
Our eyes as glowing as the rising sun;
So called to tell our love.

Behind closed doors the love is gone;
Barking and nagging like two wives in fight;
Beating and slapping like two brothers in hate;
Trying as much as possible to pull down the roof;
One walks about with a swollen eye;
Other walks about with a broken arm;
Behind closed doors is a crime scene;
Where no one knows or sees the beings.

Many in love tend to suffer;
On the streets, no one knows the wrong;
Hypothesis is all that matters;
Soul mates in doubt of existence.

I could very much decode the picture you were trying to paint and you're so right. There are so many things happening between lovers behind closed doors that we just can't tell. Nice one.
Most times, I fall flat on my face. But never do I remain on the floor; I rise again.

That was chilling and compelling. Loved it.

The title drew me to the poem and I wasn't disappointed. It is beautiful and succinct. I could see it in my mind's eye. It is relatable and the rhythm makes it all the more enjoyable.

This is such a compelling poem. Thrilling portrayal of things not always being as they seem.
