A Girl With Many Faces That I Used To Know
In the mornings, she would scowl at me,
At noon, she would yell excitedly in my face
In the afternoon, she would make such a face
With tears held back under her eyelids.
And I would turn away from her.
In the evening, I would see her curl on the floor
With her knees pulled up to her chest.
At midnight, she would cry herself to sleep;
I would see her through her bedroom window.
And though I had lived next door to her all my life,
Seeing her go through her many faces,
I would never say anything,
And I would watch her through my bedroom window.
I would watch her cry herself to sleep.
Then, in the morning she would scowl at me again
As I passed her on our way to school.
I would play with her all day,
Ignoring her many faces.
And when she moved away,
Taken away on a stretcher,
In a screaming white and red van,
I turned away.
So, there was a girl with many faces I used to know.
I talk about her now because I found something while staring
Through the window of her empty bedroom.
Against the windowpane,
Was a browning piece of paper.
It read,
"I am the girl with many faces.
I would scowl in the mornings,
Yell excitedly at noon,
And make such a face in the afternoons,
Holding back tears in my eyes.
I would curl up against the ground in the evenings,
And cry myself to sleep at night.
Why did you turn away?
Why did you play with me all day,
And turn away from me when I needed you?
It's too late now.
It’s over.
Goodbye."
Is the reality of the world different from how we perceive and experience it in our minds? Does physical reality exist apart from the human mind?

Is this real or just a poem? I am thinking that you're the girl who turned away from her when she needed you.

It speaks of a girl searching for someone who won't turn away from her in her time of need and it says to her " you can lean on me".
Perhaps you would like to hear it, the link is below

I pray that your poem will touch many so that they won't turn away from those who desperately need someone to help, or even just to listen to them or just someone to cry with.

Thank you so much. I appreciate it.qsusan wrote: ↑04 Mar 2018, 13:20 There's a song which I feel has a flip theme to A Girl With Many Faces that I Used To Know, it's Lean on Me by Kirk Franklin.
