The Starling Cloud

Post by Lincolnshirelass »

A living helix forms on high,
in their millions they soar,
across the land, across the shore,
suspended in the leaden sky ....

Briefly they part, and then, once more,
with silent wing-beats whirl and fly,
we hear no chatter, hear no cry,
a different pattern from before

forms as if the swooping throng
has not assembled just by chance,
To congregate in silent song

and fill the skies with its own dance,
lasting a brief few minutes long
and we are blessed by circumstance

to watch the whirling millions fly
across the still and leaden sky.
An Eye for an Eye only ends up making the whole world blind.

This is beautifully descriptive! :) It is very elegant and uses words that allow me to picture in my mind the moving of the clouds as well as their silence.
