Chinese Whispers

Post by Vivian Paschal »

In today's day and age we practice the self pity of taking the easy way out.
You wait on them, him and her
But when a blessing takes too long, that's when you go wrong.
You selfish ***
-Kendrick Lamar Duckworth.

CHINESE WHISPERS.

Five years from now, things will change
Like Chinese whispering, ambiguously clear
Recollections of events that never transpired
Unable to stay planted with all the sweat
Sowing, but not quite reaping
Switching to a con from a corn
Leaving the cob behind
Skipping steps, separating like terms
An equation not so simultaneous
Two plus three ears from now, and the cob becomes empty
Formerly sentimental, tempered by the heat
Now a corn in the banal sense
Lacking originality, feigning raw impure gold
Three terms, two semesters, just one ear is left
Hope your grade turns pure as the original value you heard.
