Icon I Can Stand by Myself

Post by Amagine »

I've fallen many times and many times I have fallen.
I've called many times for someone but no one comes when I'm calling.
I've been in so much pain the times I fell down.
If you looked at my face, there were tears to be found.

I've been stepped on, rolled over and each time I cried for a hand.
People looked at me like I was a fool...they wouldn't help me stand.
I didn't even stand up, I just lied there on the ground.
I thought, "What's the point of standing up just to fall back down?"

Slowly, however, I began to realize things as I lied there all alone.
There are times when you have to stand on your own.
Life will beat you up, life will hurt you.
Don't let life stop you from doing the best you can do.

At last someone came and offered their hand to me.
I smiled at them and said, "I can stand. Just watch and see!
So pull back your hand because I don't need your help or anyone else.
I'm the kind of person who can stand by myself!"

For that reason, I STOOD.

Such an empowering poem. Thank you for writing this. These are the words I need right now. <3

I like the poem.Life has ups and downs but we have to struggle to change our positions and destinies. Falling down is not failure but staying down where you have fallen is. When you are down some people will see you as a liability because you need them to uplift you somehow, but still that is the point to know your true friends.I like the message in the poem.Set your own pace in life and walk to the best of your speed.

My fellow Poet, keep writing!

Thanks for reading! :D

I haven't written anything in a long time and that fact bothers me. I have to get back into my zone!

After reading this, I think you create your own shadow, and yours will always be large. Thanks for sharing, I enjoyed the message.

This poem brings hope! I love it. You're very good with rhyme - something I struggle with.
