I've Lost That Joy

Post by Christina O Phillips »

I’ve Lost That Joy
Or The Not So Joyous Side of Writing
(in response to Wislawa Szymborska’s The Joy of Writing)

I thought I had found my joy,
found a way to preserve,
but the words have pounced away,
taking the thoughts with them.
Each drop of ink no longer
full of potential, but
merely a dot of color
on a mocking blank page.
There is much inside my head
to make happen, to say,
but the words have pounced away
taking all chances of
preservation and revenge
with them, out of my hand.
