Sweet Dreams

Post by Renee24 »

Been many years since I studied and written poetry, but started it up again. Thanks for giving us a place to read and share them.

Sweet Dreams?
Sleep, Sleep, Sleep, all I want is sleep.
I tried everything, including counting sheep.
The temperature keeps going up and down,
Trying to sleep in heat makes me frown,
I go outside for some fresh air,
Trying to figure out how to be without a care,
My mind keeps spinning around and around,
Someday, my sanity might be found,
I know it has a lot to do with my anxiety,
So, I do my best to just sit quietly,
Maybe someday I can afford a pet,
For now, I will just try to rest,
Why I have anxiety is beyond me,
Sometime in my life, I must have gone crazy,
Or maybe my parents are right and I'm just lazy,
Maybe the answers will come to me soon,
and hopefully, I will find sleep before tomorrow noon.
Sweet Dreams!

Now you've done it! I won't get a wink of sleep tonight! *LOL*

Nice poem Renee. We've all been there at one time or another - that yearning for sleep which just doesn't seem to ever arrive.

I learned long ago while living in the noisy city that there is an enzyme in milk which helps one to sleep. Little known to most people, the same enzyme exists in bananas. I know this for a fact because one night when I couldn't sleep I went to get some milk but found that I was out ... so I used bananas ... stuck one in each ear and went right to sleep *wink*.

Nice poem. Thank you for sharing. [8- )

I liked the rhythm of your poem. I recreated the way my thoughts chase themselves around in my head when I can't sleep, perfectly! I enjoyed reading it.?

That's a good one! I like it a lot, and I know it appeals to many of us out there! Now it'll be going through my head when I can't sleep.

lol well it's nice to know I'm not the only one who feels that way, thanks! Tho, sorry for putting it in your head, I know how annoying it is when you can't get a song out of your head.

It's a poem that speaks to me.. it's as if I've gone to sleep and someone in the dream world is just trying to make me understand what I was feeling all along. Even though not the answer but surely I got some reasons... and may be if the answer comes to me soon, I too may get some sleep before noon. :)

Counting sheep and temperature steep
Have got to do with finding sleep ?
All we do is just sit and eat
We think this is all we have to keep to sleep .
We sure are crazy , for we agree we are lazy .
But sleep comes assuredly
When with the herd we keep ,we find Time so hard for sleep. :) <3
