8 billion divided by three hundred and sixty-five

Post by Scott »

I wrote this today. Let me know what you think! :)

Ringing phone.

Alarm beep.

Knocking on the door.

Urgent spam.

Junk mail marked "important".

Non-stop group chat notifications.

50 new messages.

Reply now.

IRS audit.

Taxes overdue.

How many apples did your apple tree grow?

Give us 5 of every 10 or off to jail you must go.

8 billion divided by three hundred and sixty-five.

That's about how many birthdays there are today.

Did you do the math yet?

Hurry up.

How many do you have left?

Before your dead.

Typos missed.

Car horn beep.

Don't forget my gift.

Don't forget my card.

Men with guns at the door.

Here's a warrant.

We heard you might have marijuana.

Personal use, it doesn't matter.

Off to jail you must go.

Guns drawn

What's it going to be?

Die now, or listen to me.

Listen to me.

I like the beginning of the poem. It is very literary. A very expressive poem! It conforms to the idea that our voices will be heard. Also, it helps me develop an outlook on this busy and serious life.

Encapsulates our hectic lives. Covers everything. Many thoughts are demands made of our time. Just when I noticed a word spelt wrong the next line said 'Typos missed" Funny. The poem is written in an urgent and modern way. Great poem.

The rush and urgency of this poem makes me feel almost anxious while reading it. Being pulled in many directions isn’t always fun. Thank you for sharing your thoughtful poem.

This has a political point to it with the taxes taken. I know 23.5% for a single person in the low tax bracket is how much income is taken from each paycheck. So if you look at it, almost one quarter of the year you are working to pay the government.
