Naked and not ashamed

Post by Comfort Ansah »

You lie in the silence of the night

Thinking about what the dawn would bring

Clothed but feeling naked as the cold pierces through your skin

In the silence of the night

You lay down wondering how you made it to this point

Exhausted, depressed, and lonely

No one to share in your pain

Determined not to give up

You pick up your pieces and forge ahead

With each step chanting in your head

I am naked but not ashamed

There is hope for tomorrow.

I like the rawness of this poem. It touches the fragile parts of what makes our inner being vulnerable in so many ways. Thank you for reminding me that courage comes from knowing each new day is one without mistakes and that the choices I make create the resulting value of that day lived.
This is an important piece. Be proud of it.
