Green Eyes

Post by Kate_But_Not_Kaitlyn »

Green Eyes
A chilly day mid-December
It’d be a day unlike any other
Just across the bay
I grew up just two hours away
Spunky with a sparkling personality
Perfect in our eyes
But you weren’t just one of a kind

Fourteen til you’d be in the scene
To this day I’ve only seen you through a screen
Grown up and moved away
Now you’re a star living in LA
You’ve grown so much
Its two long years of loving you
I think meeting is overdue

You got me with that smile
Your laugh it warms my heart
I know you still don’t know my name
Who am I, I’ve got no fame
But Green Eyes,
I’ll see you in a while

Second Part

Green Eyes things have changed
The summer rays glowing
It’s been a ride
It’s finally the perfect time
I never gave up on meeting you
Double taps on my face
But is LA really my place

I feel so out of place
Lying to please doesn’t feel right
I want to be enough just as me
Is fame a filter that changes what you see
People love me more than ever before
Everyone gives me so much attention
Surprised you’d given me a mention

I try to draw on a smile
Pretty clothes and a smoothie
Shopping everyday
When you’re an influencer you get your way
Pose for the Gram she must be happy
Green Eyes there was so much I wanted us to be

You’re even more beautiful in person
Abs and tattoos girls revere you
I don’t know what I expected
I loved the idea of you
But in LA no love is true

The style has changed.
Sad the person lives a lie, and so true the consequence of their happiness being empty for it.

The 1st part kinda reminds me of Harry Styles. Btw good use of words. It's simply beautiful, both parts.

Both parts of this were very well written I liked the twist at the end realizing two different lives and fame gets in the way. Well written. Did you have a celebrity in mind when writing this?

I really love this piece, both parts. Is there more to it? I would love to learn more about what inspired it!

One feels like a duck, splashing around in all this wet. And when one feels like a duck, one is happy!

This is a poetic coming-of-age story. I'm really happy there was a second part because the first part felt a little incomplete. The second section really adds a sense of maturity that is a fantastic counterpart to the youthful naivete of the first part. I really like this. Thank you for sharing it with us.

I have thought about this in the past. Crushing on someone famous, you think you know so much about them from interviews and characters they play or songs they write or whatever. Maybe it's because we spend more time wrapped up in sources of entertainment than we do interacting with people, that those on-screen feel more real. Then you realize you don't know them and they already have the people they need in their lives. Would they care to remember us if we met? Celebrities meet lots of people. You could live down the street from them and they still wouldn't care. And LA is full of people stabbing each other in the back for social status. I don't think I could live there.
