Community Policing

Post by Daniel-book »

There is a new man loitering around here,
A Stanger,
We fear things might start to disappear,
We sense danger,
So we have reported him to the chief,
We suspect he might be a thief.

A private developer,
Is hastily putting up a high-rise apartment,
We think it is improper,
So we have reported to the government,
Regulatory authority,
To be sure the construction meets threshold quality.

Someone is putting up a perimeter fence,
Around the basketball court,
We think it is an offence,
We took her to a law court,
The case might delay,
But we know our children have a right to play.

A night club is playing loud music,
We sought for the owner,
Complained the noise irritates us sick,
Presented him with a restraint order,
When he ignored our plea,
We locked his club and made him flee.

Quite interesting! Never thought i'd ever come across a poem about community policing.
I think it's a good one except for the last line which kind of portrays the community as having taken matters into their own hands..?

The voice(s) in this poem are excellent.
The last stanza falls flat though. It isn't as strong as the others.
