Prose poetries has always drawn my attention. This book seems deal with very interesting themes. The fact that the experiences of an Asian-American is expressed by a poet, who himself is an Asian-American intrigues me.
Though the inferior portrayal of women makes me hold some reservations.

Thank you for this very insightful review.

Indeed, whilst there are certain turn-offs, it is still a good book. Thank you for stopping by, I appreciate your comment! :D

It would be interesting to see this example of prose poetry. I'm not particularly drawn to poetry, but this collection seems to impart some perspective on the Asian-American experience, the effects war, and the author's personal responses to these. Living in a multi-cultural environment, this could help me understand and empathize with those around me.

Osaki sounds like an interesting character to read about even though he has his flaws. Thanks for the detailed review

Thank you for the review. I've never read a poetry book before. I don't even know that much about poetry. I'm interested in reading it.

Really not a prose poetry person although your review makes it look like an interesting book to read, I'll pass on this one. Goof review
