The Poems of Robin R Rabii is an inspiring one where the author tried to view serious matters through the lens of comedy and explore the strained relationship between intellect and the heart. I rate the book 3 out of 4 .

I'm not a fan of poems, but the premise of this book looks interesting enough. It's sad to hear that the preface and introduction of the book are long-winded, as it would turn away potential readers. Good and honest review!

That was a great review. Unfortunately when I downloaded the sample to read, the preface and introduction was so long that the sample was done before I even was able to read one poem. I'm sure the author never thought about that aspect.

This is a fantastically balanced and honest review. I agree that the prologue was very wordy, and even though there were some parts that interested me, it seemed overall too rambling and preachy. I ended up deciding against purchasing the book because of it, but now I'm wondering if I'm missing out on some real gems by not giving it a chance. Thank you for a great review.

That's a good review by L_Therese on the book The Poems of Robin R Rabii, I'm not a poetry aficionado and I don't like lengthy prefaces which seems to me like an apologetics discourse. But reading L_Therese' reiview made me interested enough to add this to my "To Read" list. Congrats!

Sounds interesting, but sadly I'm very bad with poems so I'll pass this. Thanks for a great and informative review L_Therese.

I find the preface and introduction on the free sample entertaining. It certainly grabs my attention, but it was too long. I hope there’s also a sample of the poem to help me decide if I’m going to read the whole book or not. After reading your review, I’m glad there’s some interesting poems in there, so I might give it a try.

I’m afraid I wouldn’t enjoy this book being absolutely insensitive to poetry. Anyway thank you for such a detailed and insightful review! :D

I agree that the preface isn't suitable for a book of poems. Long prefaces should be reserved for classics and extended length literature where extra information is required. The Amazon preview didn't include enough to gain the essence of the book as the intro was somewhat plodding and rambling. Books of poetry are often read more as reference rather than in sequence. The review was great but could have been enhanced with samples of the work.

This review gives an overall information about the poems and makes me want to read it: the strong topics and unusual metaphors. When I get around to reading it and I run into those long and distracted parts, I'll be able to go on, knowing that there's gold beneath; thanks to this review.

Thanks for the honest review. I admire the your skill. Through the review you've allowed me to know the faults of the book but at the same time stimulated my curiosity of it's good parts.
