Have you ever been to a stage play at the local theatre? Unlike going to the cinema to watch movies, a play is performed in front of a live audience. Reading the book, The ReRooting by Betty Norwood Chaney is like watching a stage play. It is the last sequel in the book series.

A scene shows two lovers meeting up in the middle of the night. They were both apprehensive for valid reasons. They knew what would happen if caught, yet, they couldn’t help themselves. Alas, what they feared most did happen, and the consequences were both brutal and dire.

Meanwhile, in another scene, a grandmother prepares a bed and breakfast inn for guests staying for the Christmas holidays. She is surprised by a relative who drops in unexpectedly, and she is overjoyed. However, she couldn't have known then that before the end of the holidays, there would be a far greater surprise in store for her.

Drama fans, welcome to the play, The ReRooting, where the plot and characters will have you guessing till the end.

I have not read a play in a long time, but this one immediately got my attention. There are two acts and fourteen scenes in total. The setting is in rural Mississippi, U.S.A. The deep South accent might be difficult to follow and understand, but after a while, I got used to it after reading the scenes a few times.

I like how the author makes the characters jump from the pages and come alive. It made me feel like I was watching the stage play in person. Even though it is the final part of the book series, it can be enjoyed as a standalone book. I found a list at the beginning of the book, which explains who the cast of characters are. Hence it was easy for me to relate to them and understand the plot.

There is nothing about the book that I dislike. It is refreshingly different, and I enjoyed it immensely. I would rate it 5 out of 5 stars. I did not find any errors, so it was exceptionally well-edited. I wouldn’t recommend it to a younger/sensitive audience because there are allegations of rape and profanity. Mature readers who love drama would adore this book.
