Review of Catnip of Life

[Following is a volunteer review of "Catnip of Life" by Sharla Lee.]
Catnip of Life by Sharla Lee is a book of poetry that delves into the essence of nature and its splendor. From the cool mornings to the mighty storms, the beauty of creation, and the random wonders of nature, the author explores the treasures that Mother Nature has to offer. The book is a call for readers to connect with nature and embrace its raw, rare, and powerful diamonds in the rough.
The introduction of the book sets the tone for the rest of the collection. In the poem "Diamond in the Rough" on Page 24, the author writes, "Mother Nature is fascinating! Open your heart, mind, and soul to the natural world. Become absorbed in raw, rare, and powerful diamonds in the rough." The poems in this book are a reflection of this sentiment, as the author seeks to highlight the beauty of nature and how it impacts us. Grab a copy to find out!
One of the strengths of this book is its simplicity. The poems are mostly straightforward, with emphasis placed on the depth of the message. This simplicity is one of the reasons why the poems are so enjoyable to read. Instead of over-complicating the poems in an attempt to be unique, the author manages to convey her ideas effectively without falling into that trap.
The poems in this book also have a hypnotic attraction that draws the reader in. There were moments when I found myself rereading certain poems over and over, captivated by the author's words. The poems are not just about nature but about us and the feelings and emotions that nature sparks within us. As the author describes in the introduction, it's more of the same effect the catnip has on cats, only that I view it as a two-way reaction we have on each other (nature and us).
As a nature enthusiast, I instantly loved this book. It appealed to me through what I'm passionate about, which made the book a lot more relatable and relevant. However, even if you're not particularly interested in nature, the poems in this book are still worth reading. They offer insights into the beauty of the world around us and how it can impact us in ways we may not even realize.
In terms of the book's production quality, it is meticulously edited and perfectly formatted. The poems are presented in a way that allows the reader to fully appreciate their beauty and message. I don't have any negative views about anything in the book. I absolutely enjoyed every poem as they were simply written and thematically relevant. For these reasons, I rate Catnip of Life 5 out of 5 stars and highly recommend it to nature enthusiasts and poem lovers alike.
