I haven't read this author's books before but it seems like a lot readers have enjoyed her fine artistic work. Hope I get a chance to taste the delight of her work. Thank you for portraying it!

I like books that have well-developed characters! The author has another book which is also a coming-of-age one. I am definitely curious as to what triggered that discontent within the family. Thanks for the review!

A historical fiction novel portraying a post-war provincial life in in Australia during the 50s sounds intriguing. Memorable characters, historical elements, and excellent presentation are the marks of a good book. That it was well-edited is another plus. Not for me, but I am glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for the review!

This is a coming of age historical fiction novel on family, friendship and war. The book has a unique brand of humor which I shamelessly enjoyed. The book is free on Kindle Unlimited and has an Inciteful OnlineBookClub review. Congrats @JennieLinnane for the BOTD.

This sounds like something worth reading! I'm particularly interested thanks to this reviews reflection on the character development and complexity, which is something I find very important. Will be adding this to my to-read list :-)

River Kids by Jennie Linnane sounds like a great book. It's a historical fiction book, a story of Annie Hughes which covers her entire childhood until she is on the threshold of adulthood and her dream of becoming a nurse. I would love to read it. Great review!

Jennie does it again! She has a wonderful way with words that makes the scenes jump from the pages. I stopped reading with the fourth child, Josephine. I'm excited to meet the other five. What a wonderful family, the Hughs!

A well-written historical fiction novel set in Australia in the mid-twentieth century sounds a must-read for those who enjoy stories about family relationships. I like that this coming-of-age story has memorable characters and is well edited, but I'll pass for now. Thank you for the detailed review! :tiphat:

A simple story of a family with interesting characters and set in a period after World War II, and these elements provide an edge to this engaging story.

I love how the author describes scenes. It gets the emotions across so well, it makes it so easy to root for the characters.

I like the setting of the story, as it is post-WWII and in Australia, focusing on the Hughs family with lots of kids. The historical elements mixed into this fictional story should make it seem like a true and possible story. It is good to read that the mother and father are hardworking, fun, and practical. Great job on the review!
