Save for the slow start, the book sounds enjoyable. I like the humor and the mystery tucked therein. I have so enjoyed reading your review!

Those are some serious subjects that the book covers. I am not sure I want to delve into any of them though. Thanks for your review.

I realize I didn't read much books about adolescent boys with the unfolded mystery. Not sure about the pacing but I would like to check this out. Thanks for your review.

The author did a good job in portraying adolescent boys as impulsive risk-takers - that's very believable. I imagine the 60s setting adds to the hormonal maelstrom. Thanks for a comprehensive and interesting review.

I really like the ingredient of mystery involved in this read. The author seems to carefully draft her work, and I see that our fellow reviewer has praised her work. Seems like a book with reading. Thank you for your review!

We all go through learning curves at some points in our lives. It seems that the protagonist and his peers were truly at one of those turning points. If this piece is as lesson-filled and aptly-written as you've described it to be, then it's worth getting checked out by its intended audience. Thank you for your insightful review.

There were several things that I appreciated about this book. First, Higginbotham has done a masterful job of capturing the confusion and excitement that adolescent boys experience. Since he uses the first-person style of narration, the reader gets a peek into the mind of a young boy who is “chock full of hormones with a taste for adventure” and has an occasional “deficit of common sense.”
I think these quotes are still applicable to most teenagers and I'm interested in reading a book that portrays with accuracy the mind of teens and the struggles of this age. I enjoy a good mystery and humor too, so I'll be adding this book to my to-read list, thanks!

This was such a clear and well structured review that it was an absolute pleasure to read. I'm glad that the plot had more elements than you expected! I enjoy fun word phrasing and wit, however any mystery element stresses me out too much, haha! I might still read this one, however, because it sounds sincere and character-driven. Thank you for the review!
