This book produces complex characters on a dynamic journey. Through the juxtaposition of excellent character development with a backdrop of Boer War, an all-around excellent story of a time in history emerges. The author presents movement between current action and past events with fluidity.

I think that this sounds like a very interesting book. Romance and historical fiction taking place in another part of the world is helping me expand my view of the world.

I’m not very familiar with anything that has happened in New Zealand or South Africa, so I’m happy to learn about these moments in history through reading books like this.

The book is an historical fiction about war and romance. The author painted a clear picture of each chapter with words particular to the scenario... The book is quite enthralling and educative

Thanks for the great review! Although the book is listed as historical fiction, it has 2 stories - of war & of love. It seems to be a serious thought provoking novel with a little bit of everything; history, romance, and local knowledge. Seems to be very descriptive of the locations. Definitely seems like it will be an interesting book, and from what I read, will be a book you will stay up all night reading cause you can't stop reading it! So thank you BOTD for the free copy because I'm intrigued after everything I've read and all the reviews and comments of the book and definitely interested in reading the book!

This book sounds like it has a bit of everything in it! A bit of mystery, history, action, war. I was reading the synopsis about Rachel being kidnapped and it has left me wondering why this would be. I think that it would be interesting to read about South Africa during the war.

Romance, war, history definitely my type of book. But I'm not usually attracted to humongous vocabularies, they just throw me off the storyline.

Forgiven is a very interesting novel about love, adventure and war. The plot would surely drive your emotions as the sceen goes to the climax of the story. Forgiven is worth reading.

Love as a motivation for joining a war, interesting. I always enjoy the "love conquers all" theme, but I don't typically go for war-based stories. This does sound like a great book for someone wanting to learn about the Anglo-Boer War while enjoying a romance.

This sounds like a great book. I myself am not too familiar with this war, but it sounds interesting all the same and I love the time period. I am glad we all got a free copy of it. Thanks for the review.

 is an interesting story, but kind of slow from the start. I think they should work on that on their next post. I will rate it 3 stars
