I'm passing on this book because of this:
It took me a really long time to finish this book. The ending left me walking around in a daze and even now, it is hard to put this book into words.
Thanks for your review.

I'm always open to reading books with an element of history, especially when they are accurate as you described. I'm also looking to learn more about Spartan culture. Nice review.

I enjoyed reading it as well and agree with everything you said. It is lengthy, but worth it. Thanks for your stellar review.

That's a shame but I get that. I am not always in the mood for a long book. Thank you for commenting :tiphat:

Thank you! And, as someone who didn't know much about Sparta, this was quite eye-opening. I am by no means an expert but it was awesome learning new things.

My husband had just finished watching the ancient Greek-themed movie Immortals this morning. I just can't help but think it's quite a curious coincidence that your review is somewhat related. Purely factual historical accounts are not really something I'd opt for when looking for a past-time read. However, a character-driven tale could really pique interest. I could imagine your dilemma when you had to give an imperfect score for a piece that you've come to love but you just can't. Nonetheless, thank you for your insightful review.

I'm a big fan of historical fiction fan and would also love to read about a long lasting friendship. It's a shame that grammatical errors ranked it lower.

I like Sparta. It's really interesting to watch the 300: Rise Of An Empire which depicts the valour of Spartans. I'm glad this read brings out the best in them. Thank you for your review!

I love that! And it is hard to stay interested with purely factual accounts. Thank you for commenting. :tiphat:
