I kind of figured that it would be a love story simply because of the cover, but it also has WWII in it? Nice! Great review.

Historical fiction story is very informative.. You gotta read the whole chapter of the book to understand fully the situation. What catch up my attention was the love behind the war. Despite of everything they still manage to express their feelings .

At first the story seems complicated but with time I was able to catch up.. The background is so dull but the ending is just fun, love and war

This sounds like a good book, something you'll like to be adapt in a movie. World war romance plus it's forbidden, it sounds interesting. I would like to read this one soon.

I hate slow beginnings! But a World War two love story? That is very intriguing. You're review was awesome, thank you so much for writing it!

Thanks for the review! I agree with you - stories that capture that "forbidden love" element are usually thrilling. However this book is not for me due to my disinterest in the plot and the erotic aspect of this book.

Thanks for the review! I love the forbidden love trope! And WWII is one I find to be very interesting. I have a feeling I would really like this book. Added to my tbr!

Although I am quite fond of "forbidden" love stories, history is not generally my forte aside from a few very specific events such as the Holocaust. The impossible bond between Pietro and Iris does make it a temptation though. I think I may check it out. Thanks for the review!

I read the sample, along with the review and I like the style of writing. I always love a good historical fiction novel, better yet one during Workd War II. This sounds like a great read. Thanks for the review.

I like the forbidden love aspect of this book and I'm in pretty much a lovey-dovey mode so I'm gonna read it, especially as it is a love between foreigners. It also helps that it brings a fresh perspective in an oh-so-popular war. Thanks for the review.

Very honest review, thank you. "I also really enjoyed the love story told throughout this book. Forbidden love is one of those topics that can be used over and over, and I still find myself immersed every time. This book was no exception. The love story between Iris and Pietro really pulled me in. I loved that the book switched perspectives between the two characters, so I really got to see it from both sides." I also love a story about forbidden love, it will never get old. I also like it when it's done with history, ita probably the only way I could follow the history. I wish it didnt have a slow beginning and over described scenes, that definitely will distract me from the story. Even with all that, reading this is still a possibility for me.

Thank you for your review of War Serenade. I was hooked just reading the sample pages that the writer provided. Your review made me even more interested in this story. The part about their eyes meeting through the fence was very romantic. I will certainly get a copy of this book.

A love story set in South Africa during World War II. Love that tends to bring two people on the opposite sides of war. This seems to a very enticing historical fiction that any fan of this genre will enjoy.
