I do enjoy non-fiction works about war, especially WWII if they are done well. This one sounds pretty good for a work of fiction. Thanks for the review.

I have not read a WWII book from the perspective of Austria before. There’s so much we can learn from looking at the same events from different vantage points. I’d like to read this one.

Brilliant review! I'm glad I read your review. I amn't sure if the entire series is worth a read for me, but too many traumatic scenes and death sometimes puts me off. So I'll be warned, thanks to your review :)

Nice review. And while disturbing, I do appreciate wartime stories...this sounds like a good read.

I appreciate that you always seem to give not only who would enjoy the book but who should avoid it. It makes it very easy for me to pick out books that I should choose. This seems like a very interesting book, as I've always been interested in WW2 books and stories. Thanks for the review!

It took me a while to wrap my mind around the title "Kaiserjager", and I still wonder how its pronounced  That aside, I like how this reviews gives a taste of the delicacies within this book. The author seems to be a gifted storyteller, actually personalizing the story in some instances since his childhood was affected by WWII events. Although I would hesitate to pick it due to its war theme, I like how it promotes other themes like loyalty and bravery. Kudos!

I am glad to know that the dialog and action in this book are good too, similar to that in Cossack - another of McQueen's books I had the pleasure to review.

Wonderful review!

Kaiserjaeger

This book will appeal to persons who are interested in the military and those who enjoy action stories. However, persons who have undergone many traumas in their lives are cautioned against reading this book.

Great review! You gave an impressive amount of detail! Sounds like it is well-written and interesting. At some point, I may be ready for a book like this but the subject matter is too dark for me at present.

A historical novel that takes place during World war I and provides the back story of the first book's main characters sounds great. The story follows the mission of the Austrian's elite troops aka the Kaiserjaeger. I am confused. Hadn't the book taken place during the first World war? I am glad you enjoyed the book despite destruction sections. Thank you for the review!

Historical fiction based on true events, along with courage and romance is a winner for me. Thanks for the thorough review.
