An historical fiction book set in the Old Texas which started at the gambling table ensuing with cheating. The other party dissatisfied over the cheating and went on killing the cheater. I don't think I will read something revolving gambling, the activity that I detest the most. I have to pass this one.

An intriguing historical fiction story is the best treat. The story is well elaborated in the review. I will read the book. Great review. Thank you.

Frontier era Texas is a great setting for a book. That, along with the reviewers glowing praise, makes me anxious to check this one out. I'm curious to see how the author brings that time to life, especially considering the sensitive times we live in. The existence of the neighboring town, whose name I will not repeat, gives me a good feeling that the story will have an authentic voice relative to the time it portrays.

Not a fan of historical fiction or the old western life so I added to my not interested in reading shelf. A lot of complex things going on so make for an interesting plot.

It is a fictional novel that tend to elaborate on murder. Clarence Withers is on the run. He has just murdered one of the notorious Kilgory brothers for cheating at a poker game and must flee for his life. Isidro is a witness to this murder.

As a new member, I am becoming quite excited at the prospect of moving forward. Your review is a great example of how I plan to write my reviews in the future. I've downloaded the book and plan on it reading it after I review the one I am finishing up. :geek2:

Thank you for a great review :) I've gotta admit, I read the description for the book on Amazon and didn't really feel anything about reading it, but your review seems to have touched on all of the big points in the book, and you explained it all in such a way that I actually feel like I know what the book is about now. For this reason, the book is now on my 'to read' shelf. I just have to work my way through everything else on there first!

This is my kind of book through and through. A historical fiction book full of intrigue is just what I needed right now.

Although I am not into western novels, this one seems interesting. Gun battles in the wild west sounds like fun and might hold my interest. Congratulations on BOTD.

Gambling and gun battles in the western world well explained in this review. It shows exactly the kind of life the Texas people led in those early days. Congrats for a well detailed review.

This is a wonderful story. I am always enthralled by stories that are different yet are intertwined to give such a fascinating tale as they are woven into one another. I hope that the new sheriff in town, Cooper, was able to change some things. Thanks for the enchanting review. I will have to read this book.

I am not a fan of historical fiction but this book seems to contain an interesting action: with people getting killed for cheating at poker game and the sheriff being involved in some murders. Nice review!
