Review of Rescuing General Patton
General Patton is captured after a failed four-man assault on a group of German soldiers. It is important that the Germans remain unaware that they have an American General in their custody. General Patton conceals his identity and orders the other surviving soldier, Corporal Bauer, to keep the information about his capture confidential—only General Bradley is to be informed. When the news reaches General Bradley, he orchestrates a ruse: no one, apart from a few Army officers, is aware of Patton’s capture. With an imminent attack on Italy, Patton would be a valuable asset to the Germans if his true identity were revealed. A plan to rescue him becomes the top priority. What will it cost to rescue the general—or perhaps to kill him to ensure the attack on Italy remains viable?
I was particularly impressed by how the author employs a vivid prose throughout the story. Well-crafted dialogues and neatly described scenes are perfect for a war story. From a slow build-up, the story escalates into conflict, with suspense that heightens the urge to flip through every page. The rawness and blatant approach perfectly fit the intense combat scenes. It’s not just a war story;
Nothing negative about the book. It is well-edited, with very few errors. The content resonates well with adult audiences, particularly due to the intense profanity. I’d recommend this to lovers of war stories and any adult who enjoys historical fiction. The book deserves a perfect rating: I give it 5 out of 5 stars.
