I'm not a fan of historical fiction so I don't think that this book is for me. Based on the review the story seems boring. I doubt that I could connect with the characters and story so I will pass on reading the book.

I appreciate that the author makes it clear the parts that he adds on his own versus the parts that are historical fact.

This is definitely a subject I am interested in and this is the perfect time to discuss it! I love that this is a fictional account but still discusses conquering, colonialism, and religious freedom. Congrats on the book of the day! Great review!

A very sad tale on the Spanish Inquisition as told by a survivor. Like the reviewer, I like that the book exposes a dark period in the world's history and giving the victims a human face. Thanks for a wonderful review.

I know little about the Tainos and therefore the book interests me. It is great that the author chooses to write from the perspective a Taino, Guarocuya. It is good to have literature that dissects ( even fiction) the wrongs committed by Columbus. Thank you for reviewing this book. Your review was very insightful and detailed.

The review by Libs_Books is itself a detailed summary of the book. Reading just the review gave me an insightful look about the book. Thank you.

I'm a fan of historical fictions since they remind as of what our forefathers went through in the past to achieve freedom. It reminds me about discrimination. Thanks for that great review.

Mystery, tension, thriller and excitement are the kind of traits I love in a narrative. Not forgetting the book fall on my favourite genre, historical fiction, stirs me to read the book. Adding it to my book shelf. Great review right there.

I hope this is historically accurate and not just trying to paint Columbus in a bad light.

This book succeeds in putting a face to all the victims. However, the fictional embellishments in this book are too much for my taste. So, I'd rather skip this one.

I am not a fan of historical stories, however, I would definitely recommend this to my fiancee as a history buff who loves stories like this as well as Native American stories since she is Native American.

Columbus is somewhat a controversial figure, especially to the native peoples of the Caribbean and the Americas. This should be an interesting look at his life in Spain on his return from his travels.

I am already interested because this is based on an actual true historical occurance. I like to read things that happened with our history that are basically a true story whether this actual book is fiction or not I believe just knowing that the events in the book were things that actually happened will make it very interesting to read.

I'm very hesitant about reading due to the dark actions that took place during this time period. However, at the same time, I'm very interested in the narrator's perspective. I will give it a try...thanks for the review! It was very helpful :)
