A novel with multiple narrative threads can be riveting because they add depth to the storyline rather than just following just one character’s narrative throughout the entire book. The fact that Linna Tanner draws both infamous historical figures and Roman and Celtic myth is commendable. This feature of a novel gives further depth to the storyline, providing a more substantive plot and a far more engaging read. A well-researched book is rewarding for a reader since it allows the reader to be drawn into the world of the novel, while still being a product of fiction.

I think I would enjoy this book. I have always been drawn to stories about kings and queens in movies, like r
"Reign" ,"Gladiator", "king Arthur", and "game of thrones to name a few. I also love romance and stories of forbidden love. And this book has that..so definitely worth a try 😊

This is a well-written review of a historical fiction story. The story about Princess Catrina carrying the hopes of her people against the Romans, and at the same time, embroiled in a tryst with the son of the Roman Senator makes this novel intriguing.

Definitely a book that I would like to read, but I think you gave away too much of the plot in your review.

With the shifting points of view and the many characters described, I'm not sure I could keep up! I do enjoy a good fantasy novel, though, so I might have to give this one a try. A story of forbidden love and mystical adventure sounds very intriguing.

I enjoyed reading your review. You are a good writer. This sounds like a complex and intriguing book. A singing group I once belonged to sang this epic long piece that was inspired by the warrior queen, Boudica. I would love to know more about her, so maybe this book would be a fun way to reacquaint myself. Thanks for the introduction to this interesting book.

Apollo's Raven. An enthralling and thought provoking review. This book will go down the annals of history to recapture and reinvent a lost world in brilliant depiction of ancient cultures.

This sounds 100% the kind of book I would read - a rich historical fantasy, with just the right amount of intrigue and romance. I'm also excited to hear this story features strong women with important roles. You've convinced me I need to take a look :)

Thank you for the review; the sample already sounded great and your review confirms it, especially since you mentioned in some replies that Catrin has similarities to Boudicca. I kept reading about her in undergrad in several classes since Romans wrote about her, somewhat fearfully. She really was a fascinating and complex leader.

From a sampling, it is a well written story that ties in certain historical elements such as the Celts and Romans along with just enough romance and action to make the reader want to finish. Well Done.

Wow! At first glance, I thought this novel would be just another romance book but it is obviously so much more.
