I enjoy historic fiction it is interesting mostly if there is mystery involved in it.

It is really a very interesting historical fiction novel, totally drowning and immersing, it let you keep reading and indulging in it, hardly to put it down.

I read the sample on Amazon, and this review expands on that. While the book is well-written (aside from a few odd word choices - not typos, as far as I can tell), it doesn't interest me - I dislike manipulators, and this seems to be full of the trope. I felt sorry for Xavier, but not enough to want to read more, and Jake seemed rather foolish (besides being told he'd be dead within the day). I'm not sure who this blackmailed student is (given the foregoing), but I'm not drawn to find out - and being told the book ends in a cliffhanger seals the deal. Not for me.
