The review is quite insightful. I am not really a fan of novels based on the wars, but I find it fascinating to read this one. The sample is great, your review is encouraging. Hope to give it a try soon.

This is a great book and a good review too, depicting the clear scenarios that any other individual would face in the face of anything called a war. Love for the family, running for safety and a class of failing political leaders.

I love the idea of making it through another eyes. The historic subjects she hits on would make it more interesting. I would love to read it because I could connect my ancestors to it. I am sad I missed the free book, but may purchase it in the future. I love when a character develops like she has, in a tough situation.

The book seems pretty intense as it is a historical fiction based on the war took place in England. I just read the review and can say that the lead seems to be really amazing as she is close to real character. This isn't my genre but the work must be great.

This novel sounds amazing. I have read quite a few historical novels centered around the time period of WWII and the Holocaust so I have become a bit burned out reading books centered on the subject. However, I think I'll have to take exception with this book. It definitely sounds like a must-read. Thank you for your insightful review!

When It's Over by Barbara Ridley is an intriguing story from World War II because it looks into the politics of resistance against the Nazis, activism, refugees and migration in that era. Micoleon13 states it examines protagonist Lena's and her boyfriend Otto's leftist activism and how they survive until they reach England, where they are also suspected of being Hitler's spies. I think this book may appeal to young readers because the characters are college-age students involved in activism in very dangerous times. I'm also glad to learn from micoleon13 that the characters, especially Lena, transform and grow through the story. The depiction of Otto is realistic: it's common among firebrand activists to become obstinate about their beliefs, expecting others to agree with them. This is not a simple war survival story. I'm putting it in my "to read" list

Thanks for such an informative review. I love to read historical fiction but this genre revolving around certain timelines does not intrigue me. World War II is one such timeline.

I have previously read quite a few books centered on World War II and how it affected the lives of common people. This book, with its strong and realistic characters will invariably appeal to me. Thanks for your insightful review!

While books set in WWII are not at the top of my reading list, I love reading your review as it highlights the characters and events and that made the book more interesting in my eyes. This book may not be for me, but for those fond of the historical genre, and from reading the review, I'm sure that it will definitely be a delightful and engaging read. Thank you for the wonderful review. :)
