An interesting take on war-related stories. This book explores the prejudices that reigned during WWII in Prague and England, and how outcasts navigated the system to stay alive.

This book sounds fascinating, especially for lovers of war-era historical fiction. Offering unique perspectives about political and social mindsets of the youth during WWII is a fresh take on a well-covered topic. I am also delighted to hear there isn't a gruesome amount of detail about the atrocities that were taking place, as sometimes the emotional strain that accompanies such things is a heavy burden while reading. Great review.

I enjoy reading historical fiction especially when it set during the World War 2, and this book make it more appealing for me to have this in my to be read list.

I’ve read a lot of World War II historical fiction, so this one didn’t initially pique my interest. However, I’m intrigued by the focus on the various political beliefs of young folks embroiled in the times. I’ll give this one a try!

I appreciate how well Lena developed over the course of the book. I might have to pick this one up.

Thanks for the awesome review. I was a bit skeptical about reading the rest of this book, seeing as the brief blurb gave me the impression that Lena did not have a good reason to pursue a relationship with Milton instead of focus on the one she had with Otto. This review gave me more insight. I'm not interested in the romance aspect of this book, but the historical aspect is intriguing, as tends to be the case with books about the Holocaust.

You mentioned Lena does get to England, but then has to struggle with the perception of her as a spy; that really is an important part of the post-WWII era people tend to forget. A few of my grandparents' peers tried to make themselves appear more American to avoid anti-German sentiment.

I love books from this time period. The sample and your review were great and I actually ended up buying the book for myself to read. Thanks for the review.

I love the review and I would also love to read the book because it's on political history.

While this book sounds really good, war stories are not my favorite to read. The review was well done and I am certain that this is not my type of book.

It's good that the author did not let the horrors of the actions of the Nazi's overwhelm the whole story. People need to see that there were other things going on during that time. The types of struggles were varied, and not all of the issues that the people faced were the same. You wrote a great review. It was thorough and well-rounded. 💕
