I'd like to be more like her myself. Thanks for the comment!Mercy Bolo wrote: ↑08 Jan 2018, 11:51 I'm a sicker for strong female protagonists. This is exactly the kind of book that I would like to read. I might learn a few things from Grace.

It's not necessarily a retelling. It was just one of the author's influences. Plus the main character likes the book. The plot is unique though.readerwhowrites wrote: ↑08 Jan 2018, 12:12 Thank you for your review. Jane Eyre is one of my favorite novels, which can make me wary of retellings.

Then you would like this one. Grace is a strong woman. Not without faults, though.

The errors aren't that bad. I would still give it a try.

I'm pretty sure I looked up historicity to make sure I was usingit correctly. As for pacing, there's enjoyably slow and downright boring. This one was enjoyably slow. Thanks for your comments as always.bookowlie wrote: ↑11 Jan 2018, 11:07 Another great review, plus I learned a new word - historicity. It's always frustrating when errors mar an otherwise wonderful book. I don't usually like slow-pacing books, although your description of the pacing as a "slow, leisurely journey" may make me rethink my preferences.

Oh trust me! It is about her finding her way. She is very resistant to love. She wantsto be independent.EkaterinaCrawford wrote: ↑21 Jan 2018, 08:26 Thank you for your detailed review. I read the book and really enjoyed it. In my opinion, the story is more accented on a leading lady's love story, when, I personally, would have wanted to see more of her "emancipation" and finding her own place in the world, as well as her love, of course.
