I'm not a big historical fiction reader, but I like what the reviewer said about the book. Additionally, I love that the Catherine character gets developed and transitions into a deeper thinking and feeling person than she was at the books beginning. This looks like one I would like to read.

I would enjoy this book. Firstly, because of its presentation of commoner's lives just before the French revolution ( which I have always had an interest in), and secondly, because of the growth Catherine's character undergoes. Thank you for whetting my appetite with your review.

I'm thinking of picking up this book. I am on a historical literature kick and I'm now reading a book about World War II, followed by one about the war in Vietnam. Great review, enjoyed reading it.
