Very good review about a nice book. With the book Anastasia's Book of Day" by Cindy Maynard being historical fiction, it earns a place in my 'to read' bookshelf. :tiphat: :techie-studyingbrown:

This is such an interesting topic idea, even though it isn't normally the type I would read. The fact she is writing it as what she believed the life of her ancestors was like is very unusual but I am going to try reading this to see how she goes about the book.

This book sounds very interesting. I love historic fiction and it's even better when written by a person who is actually descended from the protagonist (obviously the ancestor is fictionalized somewhat as the protagonist but still). Thank you for the thorough review.

If this book is anything like Jane Austen's books then am surely going to enjoy it. I have always loved historical fiction.

This real story contains many mixed feeling. Anastasia's story, a mother without marriage is ironical. Her struggle during WW2 shows the miseries, people had to face in those days. Especially the plight of women and children was heart- rendering. The reviewer has done a good job.

This FREE book sounds intriguing. The comparison/reference to Jane Austen caught my attention. Not a big historical fiction fan, but this may be an exception. Thanks for a great review!

I like the idea of a strong female protagonist in a Historical Fiction novel. It's really cool that the book was inspired by one of the author's relative. Great review, looking forward to reading this one.

This seems to be a well written book from what I read of the sample, and your review is great. However, I donโ€™t think itโ€™s the book for me. Historical fiction isnโ€™t a genre I prefer, but I thank you for sharing your thoughts in this insightful review.

When someone hears, reads or encounters first-hand experience of difficult circumstances similar to what one is in, they feel that all the sorrows of the world are not laid on them. It can be a salve or even a cure.

Imagine what an unmarried single mother had had to suffer in the 18th Century Germany!

Thank you for the review! I love historical fiction, although, I tend to follow American history more than European, so my knowledge of Anastasia is a bit dim. However, I think this sounds like a fascinating read and I'm looking forward to learning more about her life's journey.

The book's cover and title didn't entice me initially. But upon reading the author's summarized description of the story, I was reminded again never to judge a book by it's cover (or title either). Her way of having written into a beautiful story an expected monotonous historical events is indeed commendable. Then, I came across your fabulous review and made be appreciate the work all the more. Thank you and hats off to you!

Mbangi's review is top notch. No spoilers, thickened with suspense. Anastacia, from the review, without a doupt made it through her world with skin of steel. Wonderful review.
