Even though I don't read historical fiction on my own time often, I do feel as if I would enjoy this book. I'm very drawn to strong characters who manage to make it through life's trials. I also appreciate a good story focusing on the strength of family bonds so that has me intrigued. Thank you for the review!

Usual Great Depression stories take on an adventure of the character him or herself to develop on their own. Here, the main character learns how to overcome from her parents story making her all the more powerful.

Thanks for your review, it was very engaging. I don’t usually read historical fiction, however, you really add to my interest in the stories of these four Depression Era characters.

I enjoyed your review. I downloaded the book and began reading. Going through the part where he lost his wife hurt as my mother just passed 2 months ago and this sounds like my mother and father. I had to take a break but will return to finish it soon. Thanks for your work reviewing it as you did.

I don’t think the premise of this one really intrigues me, but I’m drawn to the well developed and emotionally realistic characters. I’ll have to give this one a try. Thanks for the insight!

I looked up this book on Amazon and, after reading a few sample pages, ordered the paperback as well as the kindle. It sounds like such an inspiring story about love, faith, commitment and perseverance, especially during such a tumultuous time as the Depression. I cannot wait to read the rest, it certainly has my attention. Thank you for posting such a wonderful review.

It teaches us that there is always hope. It tells us that there is good in everyone. All you have to do is look for it.
This is such an important message to learn! As humans, we often only see and remember the negative things people have done. It is key that we take the time and additional energy to look beneath the surface and find the good inside. Sounds like an uplifting read! I will have to check it out.

I just downloaded this book and I can’t wait to read it. I love historical fiction. I’m hoping it has the same kind of feel like Taylor Caldwell’s Cashelmara or Penmarrik. I’m not sure if that is spelled correctly. It has been 40 years since I’ve read them

Historical fiction with the same bite as inspirational. This seems to be a good read for those who are facing hardships in their life.

This is an endearing story of family. I’m not sure I would call it historical fiction but it was written well. Thanks for the review

What a wonderful review! I can tell you thoroughly enjoyed reading today's BOTD. It sounds like readers really make personal connections to the characters and their lives, which makes the overall reading experience so much more meaningful. I think I may need the tissues for this one! Thank you so much; I'm looking forward to starting this right away. :-)

I find it very intriguing that the present day character has found her answers that she seeks in the story of her parents, how they meet and navigated their own lives and heartbreaks. Your review has made me add this book to my want to read list.
