The last world war seems to bring occasion to reflect and meditate on the essence of life. Not usually about life in general but one's own life. It's a time to think of relationships, family and most of all, survival in the urgency of the situation. It becomes more compelling when we think that the ideal life we wish to have for us and our country and children could vanish in an instant moment. It seems that World War 2 hasn't guaranteed our generation the safety and security it sought and promised us in prosecuting and ending that great conflict. War clouds are gathering once again, it seems

What a wonderful love story this turns into! Oops, did I say something about the Baron and Hannah? I guess it's ok since this is a comment, not a review where a spoiler is penalized. I like the style, the setting, and the plot.

This is a military version. It talks about spying missions that took place in Germany. Nice job. Thanks for the review.

I love reading about WWII and it's rare to find books from a female perspective about being a spy and those sorts of things during this time. Great review, I'll see if I can read it.

This review is making me root for the book already. Having a spy to watch out for the German is already a dangerous task whichever way you look at it, it is even more dangerous when the spy happens to be a female. This can only make me anticipate the action, suspense and intrigue that is buried deep in the book. A must read for everyone who loves historic war stories.

Historican fiction is not my thing, but this novel mixes espionage with war events in a way that make it intriguing for me. Thank you for your great review!

The Last Soldier is a historical fiction set in the second world war, and it tells the story of an English spy who spies the Germans living in the channel island after the German invasion.

This book is written in the third person from Maggie's point of view. As I said above, it takes place during World War II. However, this book does not center around the Jews or concentration camps. It focuses instead on a lone spy living amidst German gestapo. I love that it offers a different perspective on this war. There are so many different events that took place during that time period, and I love this concentration on a woman spying.
You make an excellent point. I don't wish to diminish the importance of other accounts, but most WWII books focus either on the suffering of concentration camp victims or on battles, not on "ordinary" citizens.
It seems like a riveting story, thanks!

This book relates to Dr Margaret Ross ,a lieutenant in the royal army medical Corp . She was trapped in the enemy lines when she returns to take her father before the Germans invade. I like war mission books .
