A historical romance which is so much more, allowing the book to transcend genres. Sounds great. Pity that Tom's journal took so much time and paper, when he was not even the main character in the book.

Tom and Esme, forbidden love. Historical fiction is a genre I enjoy, I used to hate love stories but not so lately. Great review, you've piqued my interest.

I sometimes go for historical romance/fiction. I like that some of the characters are more forward thinking in this one. It makes it easier for me to read about those times! Thanks for the great review.

I adore historical fiction and your review makes this sound like one that is definitely worth the read! That's unfortunate about the excessive use of journals, I'm not really a fan of that either, but still sounds like an intriguing read. I also probably would have been a little frustrated that the time period wasn't openly stated if I hadn't read this review so I'm glad I did. Thanks for the great review!
