This is definitely my type of book. I love fantasy novels because anything is possible in them. You can escape from real life for a moment with a fantasy novel in your hand and this book seems to be full of intriguing events. I'm sure this is one of those books where you can't close the book till you've finished reading it.

I am very interested to see how Catrin uses her talent with ravens to help her family or if it really is just a bad omen. I liked how you described the different conflicts in the book, and how well written the characters are. Thank you for a great review.

Wow! You wrote an excellent, thorough review!

I enjoyed this book, as well, not wanting to put it down and always ready to pick it back up. I look forward to reading the next book in the series because I got invested in the characters and can't wait to see what happens! This is one of my favorite OnlineBookClub reads so far.

I am a historical fiction fan just not much of one as far off as the Celtic ages. The love between Catrin and Marcellus is something that is deeper than is first realized. I am willing to give this book a second shot though I had my reservations as some books from this time period tend to be or can on the dry side

Since I'm curious about this book, now I'm going from a review to another review, yay!! And whoah, your review really makes my curiosity grows !! You mentioned about how deep connections between Catrin and ravens. I wonder how deep is it, like... since ravens mean bad luck, did she get so many misfortunes in her way to achieve her goals? or is it like a real raven... a crow, a bird ?? oh wait, raven and crow are different. But- whoah, a strong woman, Catrin, surrounded by ravens, must be very cool !! Although, yeah, it won't do good in people's view. So, thank you for your review !! I'm glad now I know more about how amazing this book from you.

I like the strong female character the best. I found myself rooting for Princess Catrin even with her illegal relationship with the Roman, Marcellus. Thanks for the review.

Great review! I also really enjoyed the way that Tanner brought out Catrin's connection with the Raven, and the whole way she created that mythology of connecting with animals and reading omens and everything.

The part I was most impressed with though, was how seamlessly she blended history and mythology. It was such a fun read.

I also thought some of her word choice didn't fit the mood of certain scenes and could sometimes pull you out of the story.
