Well, this book seems captivating and entertaining to a reasonable extenWe actually need motivators in our word today and I find this book very inspiring.I think most trilogies these days aren't that elaborate but I'm glad that I've found this one captivating and I think it's perfect.

That was a very insightful review. The sample I read was not too enticing though because of the different fonts used that made reading it a chore. I found the characters and story engaging though and would likely give the book a chance if I get a better copy, preferably on paper. That way, I will be able to better refer to the cast of characters and maps too.

If you're a lover of historical fiction and are interested in the Crusades, what factions caused them, who fought them and why, this book should be for you. An extremely complex subject, the Crusades is covered in detail, seen through the actions of real people alive at the time. It's written well but sometimes difficult to keep the cast of characters and their alliances, enemies, and friends sorted out from one another.

Thank you for the detailed review. I'm glad you liked it. I think this one may have a little too much detail, especially with name changes and such. I like this genre, and would usually gravitate toward it, but the sample was a little busy for my taste. I normally like maps, and family history. I may look at it again on another day. Thanks again!

Analyzing the Crusades is a tricky business because there are many perspectives among historians. For an additional view point, I would recommend a book that I read a number of years ago. It is called Warriors of God: Richard the Lionheart and Saladin in the Third Crusade by James Reston, Jr. I found it to provide a balanced interpretation of both men. Thanks for the review.

Not generally one historical fiction but this looks pretty interesting. The fact that it can be a stand alone makes me want to read it more.

I always hate when names change without warning or explanation, whether by mistake or on purpose.

Historical really isn't my thing, but I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Interesting review. Your description of the book has caught my interest, but I might think twice before reading the book because of the errors you mentioned. I really dislike errors that confuse me, as it breaks the immersion I have with the book. Thanks for the interesting review!
