It really seems like a great read. Awesome history. It would be great to go back to that time to see what life was like.

The first chapter really grabbed my attention and made me want to read more to find out how he ended up playing a life-or-death game of cards. It's interesting that the story is inspired by real lost gold. Wonder how long it will take someone to find it after people read this book?

I'm unfamiliar with this genre but your review makes it seem thrilling, might be a good place to start with Westerns.

Thanks for the review. I love historical romance with cowboys and this one sounds great to have the added benefit of Indians and the Oregon Trail. It is great when fiction contains a bit of truth and I am glad to see you gave it 4 stars!

Great review. My Dad would have loved this one. Thanks for the warning about the violence too.

At first I wasn't sure I'd enjoy this book, but after reading details about the "raw account" of western life, I was hooked! I usually dislike westerns because they fail to really encompass the essence of the setting and time period. This one sounds really genuine. Thanks for the review!

This book sounds very captivating and seems easy to follow. It seems to be very graphic and tantalizing. The imagination of the author seems to be very creative which makes it encouraging to read.

The review surely made the book sound exciting. I wonder whether any of the readers would dare go for the hidden treasure.

I'll add this book to my reading list. As for the treasure, I'd need to consult with Indiana Jones.

I like that the author did not skirt around the violence and racism. Although these can be difficult parts to read sometimes, and limits the author to an older audience, sometimes it is necessary to capture the historical aspects and themes. Sounds like an intriguing read. Thank you.

I always enjoy a well-written historical fiction and your review leads me to believe this is a good one! I love the idea of a treasure still hidden in the mountains of Arizona! The sad details of the rugged life of a family ending up murdered is compelling. Thanks for a great review!

This book sounds very intriguing and I love how detailed the characters are portrayed so that the reader feels that they are real people. I like that the book is set in the Old West to give the story grit and authenticity. I also like that the underpinning of the story is about hunting for buried treasure in the form of gold.
