Nice review! Kudos. Historical fiction is a good subject for me to read. Even though some parts lag in the pacing and intensity. A lot of of historical books are like that, all documentary and little or no intensity in storytelling. The reader should muster more patience in reading them. Luckily for me, I have developed that kid of attitude through the years. Congrats to The Water Trade by Rob Smith as #BOTD! :tiphat:

Nice review. I did read the sample and found it interesting but a little heavier than I want to take on right now. I did download the book for possible future reading. I do like reading books dealing with Pearl Harbor.

I feel the same way about that. It sounds like this book has a lot of potential but needs some work. The plot sounds interesting and like something I would enjoy. Great review!

Likewise, I was looking forward to reading it because of the bipolar disorder but thanks to your review I might have to put it a bit behind my list of books to read. Great review by the way!

Usually, many books about World War II interests me; it's always been a time period that fascinates enough to want to learn more. With the spy thriller aspect, this sounds promising. However, it's too bad that the character development isn't great, especially when looking the bipolar disorder aspect. I would've liked to know the struggles that Yoshimura faced growing up and how this reflects on his current life. Thank you for the great review!

The Water Trade by Rob Smith is a fantastic war thriller. A family story about US Naval officer, a bookkeeper and a spy of Japanese descent.
