This really sounds like an exciting book with a strong premise. I'm worried about the "telling not showing" as, I agree with your example, much of the writing I love comes in a dynamic/engaging form. I'll reserve judgement until I've read sine myself though. Thanks for the review.

Great review. Historical fiction stories usually aren't my style because they usually depict women as weak and helpless but this book doesn't. And since reading the reviews I'm definitely grabbing this. Congrats on being BOTD and thanks for making it free today.

Great Review, I can't wait to read this book. I love this time period in history. Between the warring earldoms, viking raids and outside invaders from France this period is so fascinating to me.

A very different book than what might normally be found in this genre. I think it sounds like a good read and will have to check it out.

Amazing book! No big fuss about treating the women equally -- equality was not a gift conferred but deserved because they earned it.

Wow! I didn't think this book was my type, but after reading your review I actually think it is.

It is really challenging to write a novel set on such a different period of time and still make female characters as you describe. I will give it a shot despite the writing mistakes there are

Sounds like an intriguing story even though it's face paced. I also like how it has strong female characters even though it is set in the middle ages. Great review.

What a shame about the style of writing, I do find that a little distracting myself. An interesting topic by the sounds of it though and I'm interested to read more from the author.

Great review! I don't really generally read a lot of historical fiction though I do like the fact that the female characters in this book step outside the norms of the time period being both strong willed and interesting while defying their gender stereotypes. It's too bad that the writing is lacking. Thanks for sharing

Thank you for the review! A fast paced book set in the Middle Ages with strong female characters is fascinating. Too bad about the grammatical errors.

That's a bummer about the writing style, but it is nice to know that the story was engaging! I look forward to reading it.

It sounds like it has a great story line but needs a good editor
