Good job on the review! This book sounds great for fans of westerns. I like that the author added faith to the mix without making it cheesy. :)

This is definitely not the genre I'd usually pick, put a few pages in I found I was enjoying it and I'm curious to see where the story goes. I was initially wary when I started picking up on the Christian themes, as you yourself said, these do sometimes get sentimental and cheesy. I think, however, your review has convinced me to give this book a chance! Thank you!

I enjoy westerns and christian based books. Sounds like the hero isn't painted as infailable but does try to live a christian life even with his job that can be dangerous with quick action decision about life or death. He has a soft protective heart were his family is concerned. Enjoyed your review it justified my wanting to finish reading the rest of this book.

Thank you for the very helpfull review. I remember I loved to read a lot of western paperbacks when I was in my teens, but most of them had a sharp division line between good guys and the bad guys - what intrigues me the most about your review (and subsequently the book) is your mention of not so perfect main characters and redeeming qualities found in bad guys - the promise of the more realistic world and characters. I'm also glad book managed to avoid the traps, you mentioned, many christian books fall into - it is a genre/sub-genre which can offer hours of quality reading.

Great review! This book sounds very interesting, I usually enjoy historical fiction. It's nice to know that it does have the Christian aspect to it and gives the characters dimension. I think I'll have to add this one to my to read list.

I am not a western fan, my dad was. I think he would have liked this book based on the sample I read. I noticed that open Christianity theme in the stroy and felt that it was well placed for the period. There were people in that period who spoke and acted with loudly proclaimed Christian values. We don't see that quite as much these days, but it was a staple of many older Western novels.

I'm not a fan of westerns or faith related books, but I know that a lot of people are and a well-researched book with a believable and compelling plot is something that every genre needs. Thank you for the review and congrats to the author on getting 4 out of 4!
