Thanks for the review. I don't like reading books out of series order because sometimes you can miss so much, so it was good to know that this has adequate coverage to not leave the reader lost.

While I don't like books with Christian elements, I often don't mind them in historical novels because it was a different time and to most people in the past, faith was the cornerstone of their lives. It's good to hear that the book keeps its grit. Thanks for the great review!

I grew up watching old westerns every saturday with my Dad, and it's given me an appreciation for the genre. I've read quite a few historical westerns and a great many of them had underlying themes of faith and right and wrong. I don't think I've read many books in the genre that didn't mention faith, and that's likely because faith was such an intrinsic part of life back then.

I think we may see a resurgence of interest in western style books and movies this year. There were a few great western movies released in the last few years and of course I'd be remiss not to mention Westworld!

Your review was great!

Excellent review. I like that you started it off with your rating and then went into a summary of the book. It seems like the book is well written.

I like the idea of the story showing the different jobs that actually need to be performed on a cattle round-up.That's the sort of detail that really makes historical fiction especially appealing for me. What causes me some pause, though, is the fact that this is the third book in the series.

Interesting review! I don't really read religious/spiritual books but this book seems unique.

Thank you very much for this review.
I read the first pages and had the impression that the children's past was going to be complicated. I liked the hero's wife, very grounded and loving.
Maybe I can get interested in westerns now :)

Visualizing the setting of a story is never easy, especially if you are given insufficient description by the author. However, if the setting of this story is as well-described as reviewed, then I will have no problem enjoying the scenery of this one.

Sounds like it might be something I would enjoy. I have only recently begun reading historical fiction and I like best the ones that have a Christian theme.
