Thanks for the great review! This book sounded so engaging from the blurb on amazon and reading your review just really solidified that for me. I am a fan of a good historical fiction and this book sounds just about perfect. Congrats to the author on being #BOTD!

I saw this book on Amazon and it didn't really call out to me. Even when I started your review I was thinking that I probably wouldn't agree with it or like it. Each word I read from your review made me want to read it more. You did a great job drawing me in. It isn't really my style of book but you make it sound good.

I love To Kill a Mockingbird so the fact you're comparing this book to that really makes me want to read it. Great review!

Your excellent and detailed review assures this book's place at the top of my TBR list. I will accept the challenge of your last sentence
Honestly it's right up there with To Kill a Mockingbird and The Book Thief
just to see if I agree.

This is another fascinating period and event (the famine) with which I am unfamiliar. After reading your review, I went to the first few pages of the book expecting to see a turgid narrative of background information. But the first few pages, an entertaining account of an exchange between a drunken nobleman and his cat, is an entertaining hook and invites the reader to stick around for a few hours, the story is going to get interesting.

This is a great review and congrats to the author. It seems this book is very "busy" from the beginning with multiple story lines. I am not a big fan of stories like that, but because it contains actual history it maybe worth the read.

Thanks for the review. I like it when the characters blend in with the settings perfectly and the side characters just enhance the story. I am glad to know that this book was written in that way.

I really enjoyed this book because of its fun genre and its place in time. I downloaded it on my kindle e-reader which made for compactness and mobility. I definitely recommend it to anyone who likes a different kind of adventure

Great review. It sounds like an interesting book. I know little about Ukraine, and this seems like an excellent method to learn a little about it. Historical fiction books are great ways to learn history in fun ways.

It sounds like a pretty complex story, and this little-known bit of history could be an interesting facet. I don't know very much about Ukrainian history except in a very general way.

Great review! I knew almost nothing of Ukraine's history so this would help me learn. Additionally, I am equally interested to know what is going on inside the Taras house after the move of Kleim and the others.
