Great start to the review, but I quit reading it as I do not like it when book reviews give too many plot details (such as: " Months later, still unwed, she ends up pregnant."). In my opinion, that is a spoiler. However, as a fan of historical fiction, your opening description of the failings of historical fiction and the way this book does not fail is a great point and makes me want to read the book.

:D What a wonderful review. Between this and the sample chapters, I was convinced to buy the book. Thanks for giving such good details to help in the process of deciding.

I enjoyed reading your review. It's so true that it is difficult for historical novels to have both a great plot and full descriptions of setting and time period. It sounds like this book has it all plus a bunch of interesting plot twists. Congrats to the author on a glowing review!

Great review! I really enjoyed your summary of the book. It sounds like this is a great story of two women during a time when being a woman wasn't exactly easy. I'm excited to check this book out!

Thanks for the review. I happen to love historical fiction and this one sounds like a great addition to the list that I want to read. I like that this has been set in an authentic period setting and that the author nailed the surroundings.

I have not started on this book, but your review makes me feel like I can relate to the main characters. I've downloaded it onto my kindle app, and will soon read it. Right after I post this comment. ??

I've read some really great historical fiction and this book sounds like it will join the ranks. Thanks for the wonderfully descriptive review!

Great review! I might have to try this one. "Historical fiction is a fickle beast," indeed.
