A book cannot be assessed from afar or by its cover. The book, No Dark Clouds by R W Nelson reflects this. The book centres on the life of Jesus Christ from when the Passover feast was near unto His ascension. But, that is not all. This story is woven into the fabric of a major one that relates the life experiences of five beggar children. Four of them are owned by a taskmaster whom they remit the money they get from begging. The fifth beggar is a boy with scars on his face. He lives alone in a dilapidated building. In their struggles to survive, the paths of this beggar boy and the other four beggars cross.

At first, they are strangers, especially the beggar boy to the other four since he does not share a roof with them. But later, they became friends and regard themselves as a family of some sort. Each of these beggars is different, uniquely different. So is the path and resolution of the problem each faces. They all get to meet Jesus in different ways, of course.

One thing that stands out in the book is its engaging plot. Even though the book is a spin-off of a story from the bible, the plot is unpredictable in many ways that the book keeps the reader engaged throughout the story. There is a central plot focused on the beggar boy. Other sub-plots are linked to the plot of the four beggars, of Jesus Christ, and others. These create one giant web of engaging plots. While going through one plot, the reader is made to wonder about what will happen next in the other plots. And more, the plots are all tied together neatly. They do not form a jumble of plots. They form a web, a well-connected web of plots.

There are no negative features in the book. It is exceptionally written.

My rating for the book is 4 out of 4 stars. The book is exceptionally edited, has an engaging plot, and projects scenes using vividly descriptive words. These and other fine qualities of the book makes it a book be rated as such.

I recommended this book to all; Christians and non-Christians. The book is a recommended read to all Christians because it will deepen their faith in God, and to those that are not Christians, they would get to see one of the pillars of Christianity, the death of Christ, and the significance of His death. So, the book is a recommended read for all.
